Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) Wins American Lung Association Award

Youth Advocacy Award One  of Five Awards Presented Annually at Luncheon

 

(Portland) – At its annual awards luncheon on Friday, October 18th, The Maine chapter of the American Lung Association will award The Opportunity Alliance’s Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) program with its Youth Advocacy Award. In notifying MYAN’s  director, Beth Yvonne, about the award, an American Lung Association official mentioned MYAN’s 12 year commitment to empowering and training  youth leaders and to helping adults across the state support youth voice and youth engagement.

 

The key note speaker at the Annual Awards Luncheon will be Corinne Husten, MD, MPH, the Senior Medical Advisor for the US Food and Drug Administration. The theme of this year’s awards ceremony is “Regulating Tobacco in a Rapidly Changing Market: The FDA’s Role.

 

Other Award Recipients include: Lisa Letourneau, MD, MPH; King Middle School 6th Grade Students; Cover Maine Now Coalition; Maine Tribal Youth Group; and the Breathe Easy Coalition.
