Annual Meeting June 23rd

The Opportunity Alliance Hosts Annual Meeting; June 23rd Meeting Open to the Public

SOUTH PORTLAND (June 2016) – As the Community Action Agency for Cumberland County, The Opportunity Alliance hosts an Annual Meeting of its Board of Directors that is open to the public:

When: June 23, 2016 at 8 a.m.

Where: The Opportunity Alliance Family Center in the Timbers Room, 50 Lydia Ln, South Portland

The morning will begin with coffee and light fare at 8 a.m., followed by a business meeting and president’s report from 8:15 a.m. until 9 a.m., followed by the keynote speaker.

This year’s key note speaker is Michael McAfee, Vice President for Programs, and Director of the Promise Neighborhood Institute at Policy Link, a national research and action institute advancing economic and social equality. McAfee has spent more than 20 years serving as a results-driven leader in the government, philanthropic, and human-service sectors. His partnership with leaders in these sectors has resulted in more than 3,000 units of affordable housing, 5,000 jobs, and hundreds of thousands of families accessing the supports they need to prosper. Most recently, he has lead cross-sector efforts to invest more than $700 million into our nation’s most distressed communities, building communities of opportunity from cradle to career. This has culminated in the Promise Neighborhoods program, which became a permanent federal program through the authorization of Every Student Succeeds Act in 2015.
