The Opportunity Alliance Training Department's Mission and Philosophy

The training department supports high quality services to the people in Maine through the enhancement of participants' qualifications and skills. The training department develops training that builds employees' qualifications and skills at The Opportunity Alliance. And when appropriate, The Opportunity Alliance opens trainings up to the public in order to share information and resources as well as enhance the learning environment.

Care of the Diabetic Client With Epi Pen Training

This program meets the State of Maine CRMA regulations under section 7.  The Registered Nurse will provide participants with an overview of how to recognize pre-diabetic symptoms, proper use and care of equipment associated with Blood Glucose monitoring, the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, and medical care including specialist such as podiatrists.

This includes a hands-on presentation and return demonstration of insulin administration with the agency Nurse Educator, and a post-test. (not client specific training)

CRMA Full

Live CRMA 40-hour course. CRMA certification is necessary to get the MHRT-1 certification. Certification is good for two years. Med passes will have to be done at the participant's place of business. CRMA Recertification training

This 8 hour course certifies the participant in CRMA for 2 years. Participants must have current certification to take the Recertification class. Cost is $80. Please contact Patty Mann at 523-5019 to register. Training is from 8:30am to 5pm.

CRMA Recertification Refresher (1.5 Hours)

Optional (but highly recommended) live session for anyone getting ready to to take the CRMA Recertification class.  A review of the commonly asked questions about the CRMAmaterial will be reviewed, and any questions you have answered.

Important Note: Participants should review the Fortier CRMA Recertification Study Guide before attending this review session.  The CRMA Recertification class is also for any staff member that needs to "Bridge" their 24-hour certification to TOA’s required 40-hour certification.  The review session will provide an opportunity for staff to familiarize themselves with the specifics of CRMA practice in an Opportunity Alliance program.  This will make the actual recertification session a smoother process.

MANDT

The MANDT Full Course is the initial MANDT training. Participants must be present for the full 2 day, 16 hour training. Completion of this course certifies the participant in MANDT for 1 year. Cost is $170. Please contact Patty Mann at 523-5019 for availability. Training is two days, 9am to 5pm.

MHSS

Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS) training is required to receive your MHRT-1. MHSS covers the role of the mental health support specialist, understanding mental health and mental illness, trauma, health and recovery, communication and confidentiality. Participation in all sessions is required. Training is five days, 9am to 5pm.
